Digital convergence refers to the merging of different functions that several separate devices carry out in a single device. For example, refrigerators that do not only perform their traditional task of preserving foodstuff but also incorporate functions such as displaying family photographs and memorable moments using an LCD touchscreen. Another example is smart mobile phones, which carry out tasks such as enabling internet access, GPS services, capturing digital images and video capture. Another key progress made in digital convergence is in cars such as the Tesla S that has features such as a 17-inch touchscreen display that enables the driver to have access to other characteristics in the car such as navigation and communication devices installed in the vehicle.

With the development of digital convergence such that most appliances are connected, there arose a need to supervise and standardize how devices became connected. As a result, the Digital Living Network Alliance is an organization that was formed to oversee the interconnectivity that continues to happen in homes and standardizes the appliances that are connected and how they become merged.

Plagiarism refers to taking someone elses work or piece of writing or expression and passing them as ones work. It appears mainly in researched and written work.

What is digital manipulation?

Digital manipulation is the changing or altering of different media forms such as photos and music to a specific liking. It refers to some form of editing to achieve a given result.

When is it unethical?

Digital manipulation becomes unethical in instances where the change does not improve the quality of the photo or video but makes it unappealing to the public.

How might you put your online reputation at risk?

One might put their online reputation at risk through their posts that might portray other people in a bad way such as digital manipulations or even through plagiarised work.

What should you do to protect it?

To protect from ruining their online reputation, one should ensure their work, if gotten from another source, is referenced or the source cited and given credit. One should also avoid digital manipulation at all costs unless it is very necessary.

Which commandment is most broken and why is it broken?

The most broken commandment is number six and it states that thou shalt not copy or use proprietary software for which you have not paid (without permission) (Evans et al., 2014). It is most broken because there are many piracy sites that are easily available to people, hence enabling easy access to software for which one has not paid.
