Bigger, Faster, Stronger

Bigger, faster, stronger (BFS) training systems which are usually set up in four weeks are specifically designed for all athletes regardless of sport, age, or gender. For this training system, in-season training frequency is two sessions per week while offseason workouts are increased to thrice per week. The set-up is meant for the athletes to try to break their personal records year round. BFS training workouts consist of six core lifts that are believed to enable the athletes to run faster, be stronger, jump higher and increase endurance, agility, and flexibility. Some of the exercises carried out under BFS workouts include parallel squats, hex bar deadlift, bench press, towel bench press, box squat, and the power clean. All the workouts are used to strengthen the area usually injured frequently within a sport.

All the seven laws of training are applied in BFS training system through the principle of overcompensation, use/disuse principle, and overload. Individual differences principle of training laws is made possible in BFS through building a foundation with core lifts that focus on sport-specific auxiliary lifts. This principle is also violated under BFS because the system involves set/rep exercise meant for everyone. BFS also continually piles weight on the bar, which is a good thing, but lower intensity is needed. Consequently, the GAS principle is violated.

Cross-Fit Training

Cross-fit system aims at preparing the trainees for physical contingencies that are unknown and hard to oversee. To achieve this, cross-fit applies varying functional movements at high intensity with a strong community environment. The training system trains on workouts that are demanding in physical strength including powerlifting, gymnastic exercises, aerobics, and Olympic weightlifting.

Cross-fit training has the broadest range of training movements than any other system. Some of the movements include sprinting, jumping rope, rowing, weight lifting, flipping ropes, and carrying or moving heavy objects. In most cases, several of these movements are carried out in continuous succession. However, it is possible to exclusively do one or two movements for a specific training session. Equipment used include dumbbells, kettlebells, gymnastic rings, and boxes. One special feature of cross-fits is the workouts of the day which changes on a daily basis.

Evidently, most of the principles of training are violated under Cross-fit program than in any other system. For instance, the workout of day feature violates individual differences principle as the chosen task is for everyone. The different exercises such as movements and weightlifting violate the principle of overload and overcompensation. Again, because the exercises are random, the use/disuse principle is violated.

High-Intensity Training

A High-Intensity Training (HIT) workout aims at being quick, infrequent and intense. In this regard, technical HIT workout can vary from lifting the weights smoothly at a natural pace, to timing the lifts. When done in extreme, it can take up to 30 seconds to complete a full cycle. HIT suggests one to three sets per body part violating the Principle of individual differences. This training program has very loose guidelines making it possible to violate the overload and overcompensation principle. The repetitive nature of the workout is a further violation of this principle.

The most suitable training program for me is the BFS. One of the reasons I would choose this program is that I enjoy weightlifting a lot. It is easier to training with the activities a person enjoys doing. Additionally, I have always set Personal Records with the weights I have lifted and usually try to break this records. Another reason for choosing BFS Is because it is useful in all athletic activities regardless of the sport.
