The life and times of Nikola Tesla prove to be resiliently inspirational and educative; it can almost be termed as a journey of self-discovery. Nikola Tesla was born on July 1856 in Smiljan, Austrian Empire (presently in Croatia) and later died on January 1943 in New York. Teslas roots can be traced to Serbia, having been a child from parents of Serbian origin. Nikola was the son of an Orthodox priest and an unschooled but intelligent woman. As he grew up, he displayed exemplary imagination and creativity; little did he know that these skills when combined would someday change the world.

It is predictable that an individual with skills of imagination and creativity would like to put them into practice by taking a more practical career. Tesla was not an exemption he joined the Technical University at Graz, Austria, and later the University of Prague, where he studied engineering. He first set his eyes on the Gramm dynamo while at Graz, the dynamo worked as a generator but when reversed operated in the same manner as the electric motor; this was the begin of Teslas inventory journey as he conceived the means of using alternating current to advantage (Tesla,2013)

Later, Tesla had a vision on the rotating magnetic field principle at Budapest; he then planned to invent an induction motor, giving him a breakthrough towards the image of the successful use of alternating current. Nikolas first employment was with Thomas Edison. However, the two inventors had different backgrounds, and methods thus their separation was inevitable. Nonetheless, in 1883 while on assignment to Strasburg, he designed his first induction motor. In 1884, Tesla sailed to America and arrived in New York owning four cents, arithmetic for a flying machine and his poems.

The purchase of the patent rights to Nikolas polyphase setup of the AC transformers, motors and dynamos in May 1888 by George Westinghouse, the then head of the Westinghouse Electric Company based in Pittsburgh sparked an unrelenting struggle of power between Edisons direct-current systems and the Tesla-Westinghouse alternating-current, the latter eventually outdid the other. Tesla put up his laboratory, where he could freely carry out his credible experiments which were countless.The analyses included: research on carbon button lamp, research on resonance power of electricity, and other distinct types of lighting. In order quell the fears of alternating currents, exhibitions were done in Teslas laboratory, one of the most remarkable experience was when he lit lamps while letting electricity flow via his body. Moreover, He got invitations to lecture both home and abroad.

According to Lieberman & Kline, (2017) Tesla had a few close friends who included and was to some extent impractical when it comes to financial matters; his driving forces were: progressive germ phobia and compulsions. However, he improvised means of intuitively telling unfathomable scientific secrets and employing his gifts to verify his hypotheses. Tesla was seen as a godsend by reporters who found a sensational copy but a nightmare to editors who wondered how his futuristic prophecies should be viewed and understood.

One of the Teslas most exciting invention that shaped and changed the world is the development of robotics. Nikola Teslas enhanced scientific brain made him discover that the driving force of all living beings is merely external impulses. Thus, robots concept came to be. However, human element remained with Tesla asserting that there should be limitations to human replicas. This invention proves to be highly helpful mostly in the present day business; most manufacturing companies bank on the robot idea to aid them to accomplish tasks in time.
