Information systems are components of computer hardware, software, database, network and peoples aid that process data into useful information. The hardware consists of parts like input and output devices, operating system and media devices. The software is made up of programs and process structures while the database is made up of data organized a required. The network is made up of network devices and medias of communication. Human aids are the operators and administrators of a system.

Processing of information entails, an input of the data, processing of the data into information, storage of the information, output, and control. Input requires the software programs do feeding on data using the hardware system and processing.

Information systems are classified into two, operations support system and management support system. Operating support system is the generation of data into information which is utilized by a user in an organization. In organizations operating systems control production, facilitate the transaction of business and support communication both within and outside the organization. The operating system is divided into transaction process system, processing control system and enterprise collaboration system.

Transaction processing systems are the departments that deal with the transaction in an organization. These departments are like sales, accounts, and finance. In the departments, there is a transaction which may be in sales or even accounting transactions. Process control system is where the computer makes decisions for specific situations. For the computer to do such a task, there must be a series of such conditions that have been processed before manually.

Enterprise collaboration system enables teamwork through communication and the transmission of data. The enterprise collaboration system allows collaboration. Lastly, there are management support systems facilitate decision making for managers by creating a system that has specific information in a given format. They are categorized as expert systems, accounting information systems and decision support systems. The managers can come up with solutions to challenges that they face.

Importance of the article

The article is used for beginners in an organization who are not aware of the information systems work. The learning of the systems makes work more comfortable for the employees in a company or organization. The communication between one department to another is also made easier because information is transferred through the systems. There is also the organization of information into the systems making it easier to access the information one requires at a given time.

With the learning of the systems, the managers of an organization can make thoughtful decisions in regards to how to handle different situations in a group. There is also lessening of the human labor required in the organization since the information systems work efficiently and faster than how the human malware would work. The mistakes made are also less if the information systems are learned and put into place.
