Application for the Position of a Micromorphology of Southern Africa Pleistocene Rockshelter Deposits Specialist

I am writing to you regarding an open position in your organization for a Ph.D. Candidate on Micromorphology of southern Africa Pleistocene rock shelter deposits. My academic accomplishments and experiences make me the ideal candidate for the position. I have a good education background with a master certification in Environmental Archaeology from the University College London, Institute of Archaeology, London, in the United Kingdom where I was able to graduate with a first class honors. In the University College London, I majored in Geoarchaeology which will significantly benefit the organization project by providing my expertise in Geoarchaeological assessment to improve sample collection. During my master's education, I carried out a thesis in Geoarchaeological assessment through micromorphological analysis on the landscape evolution of Tierra Del Fuego, Patagonia which I was able to pass with distinction and improved my knowledge which can be applied in the archaeology in the advertised position in South Africa.

In 2015, I was able to complete a BSc in Geology and Geoenvironmental study program at the National Kapodistrian University of Athens in Greece which further makes me the ideal candidate for the position advertised. On course of the Geology and Geoenvironmental study, I was exposed to different physical structure and substance of the earth as well as their history which will be beneficial to the project in terms of mapping the project site to improve sample collection as well as correlating different earth substance to assess relationships and history of the landscape which will be instrumental in chronological control of the samples collected. During my BSc course, I did a thesis on Sedimentological studies and paleoenvironmental observations on sediments of the Marathousa formation, Megalopolis Basin, Greece which I passed with a distinction grade. Using the knowledge I acquired while carrying out my BSC thesis I can contribute immensely to understanding the South African environment which will improve environmental proxy data collection and analysis.

Through my MSc thesis in geoarchaeological assessment through micromorphological analysis on the landscape evolution, I was able to identify methods and approaches that I can apply in the project to meet the organization needs in conducting archaeological fieldwork for the project and improve excavation profiling which will be instrumental in achieving the project objectives. Through geoarchaeological assessment, I will be able to conduct the micromorphological analysis which will meet the project needs in finding occupation intensity and the mixing between stratigraphic levels which will be instrumental in separating excavation sites to be able to have a chronological approach to the study of ancient human remains. My experience in geology and geoenvironmental will be applicable in conducting bulk sampling of isotopes while my experience in writing my thesis has prepared me in advance with communication and descriptive skills which will be important in documenting the project results in a presentable manner for easy retrieval and reporting to the project stakeholders.

By nature, I am a quick learner and a team player qualities that will make the acquisition of the project knowledge during the project orientation and training easy and first to catch with the project progress. My ability to work in groups will be instrumental in group based activities as well as contributing in collaborative based activities for the project. My primary motivation and desire to work for you is the need to improve my experience in micromorphology of southern Africa by acquiring new archaeological knowledge and skills and at the same time contribute to the project success to meet the stakeholder's goals.
