The Bahamas is a great place to visit or live from because of great food, beautiful islands and attractions for days. There is a staircase with a beautiful water fall in front of it called the Queens staircase located in the Fort Fincastle Historic Complex in Nassau. These stairs were named in honor of Queen Victoria who from 1837 to 1901 reigned in Britain. The 66 stairs were made by limestone rock between 1793 and 1794 by the slaves that lived there. Today there is are only 65 steps that can

be seen because over time, the last step was covered up by asphalt. When people go to the Bahamas to visit, the tour guides take them to the Queens staircase to let them know about the history of the Bahamas and the beauty of that staircase.

Nassau is the capital of the Bahamas, but it was Founded in 1670 as Charles Town and then rebuilt as Nassau in 1695. John Watlings Distillery is also located on the capital and can be visited by tourist., This distillery is where John Watlings Rum is made. John Watlings Distillery was a plantation for slaves back in the 1700s. On this planation there was a Hand-Cut wWell that was made from the same limestone has as the Queens Staircase. Another history place in Bahamas is the Nassau Public Library which was built in 1797 as a jail Bahamas. Our World: Bahamas, 31 July 2017, p1. 6p. (Pearson, 2017). This building was one of the first builds built in the Parliament Square with little rooms that housed the prisoners. In 1879 that same prison was turned into a library and those same little rooms that housed prisoner now hold books and charts. This building had a basement and many other floors that are now the peaceful and colorful area for children to read their books. This building that was once a prison was made into something beautiful just like the reason of the island.

on the 10th. T, and they gained their independence from Great Britain. The Bahamas also do not have a president like the USA but instead, they do have a prime minister. Sir Lynden Oscar Pindling was the first prime minister of the Bahamas from 1967-1992. As of 2016 the population in the Bahamas is only 274,400 where in 2016 the USA had a population of 323.1 million. The USA and Bahamas are similar but are also different.

The Bahamas is a very beautiful place to live and/or visit but the history of it is amazing. From the beautiful blue waters to the landscape of the island. The hand craved carved stairs and wells, rum distillery and libraries. When you go to the Bahamas you will get tour guides ready to take you on tour of their beautiful island and show you all the different areas and land marks of the island. This island is amazing and can be breathe taken once you start to learn all the different attractions of the island.

The Bahamas today is standing beautiful and made that way but by the slaves that was were brought over there so many year ago. The culture and the people of the Bahamas keep it beautiful also. If the Bahamian did not know their history and the places to visit, the tourists wouldnt have an no idea of the real beauty of the island. Even though the island of the Bahamas is like all others it is also so very different in history. To live there or just visit the Bahamas is a beautiful place to be.
