Most often, I feel like the world around me is on the verge of crumbling completely to the ground, but it never does. In my entire career development period, I have often been faced with a wide range of challenges ranging from high academic demands to getting control of my personal life. Crunches of the deadline for various academic projects in addition to endless academic requirements have been a significant share of my lifes challenges. However, one of the most challenges I have ever faced in my entire life is my poor performance in Mathematics and in most cases, I viewed it as a brick wall in my dreams of becoming a doctor.
During the early stages of my secondary education, I was very weak in Mathematics. I always scored very low grades which often discouraged me. I always had dreams of becoming a doctor when I was done with my education, and I knew that with such a poor performance, my hopes were on the verge of being ruined. In my second year in school, things were even becoming worse, and I knew something had to be done. I knew that I had to change completely and design ways through which I could getter better in a subject that I solely believed was a pillar of my career.
Just like Randy Pausch says in the last lecture, I never complained after that. I instead worked harder by utilizing relevant materials that were made available by my supportive teacher. I was made to understand that the entire process of change for the better relied utterly upon me. Being informed to a larger extent, I dedicated the most of my time in trying to get the necessary support from my teachers, fellow students and even my parents at home. Despite failing, I continued working hard and indeed as often said, at the end of my third year of study, my performance had tremendously improved. I was performing better than before, a huge surprise to my teachers and fellow students. Moreover, when I did my final exam, I scored a better grade that came as a surprise to many.
Nevertheless, my experience changed after that. I was never the same again. Learning new things in life or attempting to overcome certain challenges in life is often scary. Trying to eradicate the already existing feeling of being poor in the subject took a reasonable share of the challenge. However, I at the end of it all managed to overcome the challenge. Typically, since then, I often feel that the result of anything that one does depends on the kind of efforts that are employed towards the same. My experience on the various wall blocks of life changed from that time. Self-belief and confidence became part of my various approaches to challenges in my life. I always believe that everything is possible and as Randy reiterates, working and playing right with other is essential in life.
Ultimately, I feel that challenges are purposely there in life for various for various reasons. Most significantly, these challenges are there to enable us to improve and show how much we are committed achieving our life goals. Unending determination together with a strong desire to achieve our set goals remains ultimate mechanisms to overcoming lifes brick walls and ensuring that we achieve our objectives. Furthermore, the experience we gain while facing these challenges is ultimately essential in our life after that.
