In our case here the medication prescribed for the treatment of conditions affecting the urinary system is generically known as Amoxicillin and Clavulanate Potassium which contains antibiotics amoxicillin which is semi-synthetic and is further lactamase inhibitors (Peace, Olubukola and Moshood, 2012). This medication is not only prescribed for the urinary traction infections but also respiratory infections which are risky if not dealt with quickly. The brand name of this medication is referred to as clavulanate which is from India. Most medications get their generic naming from India as most herbal and quality medicines are manufactured from India.

Discuss the actions, uses, contraindications, adverse reactions, dosage and route, implications for patient care, and special consideration

This kind of medication is usually made up of several medications which consist of antibiotics amoxicillin which is semi-synthetic and an inhibitor known as lactamase. This kind of medication is usually prescribed for lower respirational contaminations, otitis media, sinusitis, skin infections and the urinary tract contaminations (Peace, et al. 2012). This medication is usually a contraindication to those patients whose health history consists of cholestatic jaundice which also refers to the dysfunction of the liver and hypersensitivity.

The prescribed dosage for adults who require this kind of medication is usually one amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium tablet which weighs 500 mg/ 125 mg in after every 12 hours. Moreover, they can take one Amoxicillin and Clavulanate Potassium tablet weighing 250 mg/ 125 mg after every 8 hours. Amoxicillin and Clavulanate Potassium are usually in the form of a tablet and capsule which is taken orally (Peace, et al. 2012).

Patients with history concerning liver and kidney infections, the aged, children, a person who is pregnant and breastfeeding should put into consideration some caution and risks when taking this medication. Taking or using the medication for a long period may cause or have some secondary infections which are vital to the patients health (Prakasam, Elavarasu & Natarajan, 2012). The medication should regularly be monitored when taking it as it may increase the time in producing prothrombin.

However, this medication has some side effects which include; Gastrointestinal which involves signs and symptoms such as diarrhea, nausea, regular vomits, indigestion of food, stomach inflammation, mouth ulcers and bleeding of intestines. Hypersensitivity which may lead to skin rashes, regular itching, and pains and serum sickness. The liver enzyme levels will be elevated at a higher rate (Peace, et al. 2012). Genitourinary involves the inflammation of the kidneys and blood in the urine. The Central Nervous System might be affected where the patient will experience some symptoms such as agitation, anxiety, changes in ones behavior, confusion and dizziness. The medicine should be stored in an airtight container and at room temperatures.

What are some lessons learned or what you took away from completing this research?

From the survey carried out, I found out that India is the world's first and largest country in the production of quality medicine, in coming up with pharmaceutical formulations and the country with quality herbal medicine (Prakasam, Elavarasu & Natarajan, 2012). Amoxicillin and Clavulanate Potassium is a medication that should be taken with a lot of precautions by the patients and as prescribed by the doctor. If this is not put into consideration, the patient is expected to experience some side effects which will affect the functioning of the body (Peace, et al. 2012). To get the prescription for Amoxicillin and Clavulanate the patient is advised to pay a visit to a qualified health practitioner. This helps by ensuring that they are advised on how to take the medication and the kind of safety it requires. This helps in ensuring that the patient acquires quality health care and can manage properly and get better as soon as possible.
