The myth that women have are inferior to men exists today despite claims that women and men are equal. From Laura Bates talk her experience. In Ted X covenant Garden Women Laura Bates discusses her three different encounters in a week that trigger her to come up with a platform that women are going through the same experience can openly talk about their experiences. Laura Bates tells about an encounter with two men who publicly commented about her legs. They further went on to make inappropriate remarks about all the things that they would do to her. Laura claims that she ignored them like any other woman would do and kept on walking. The next night, she took a bus home and was on pone with her mother. Laura Bates claims that the man slightly brushed over her thighs, but brushed it off assuming it was a mistake. Later on, she realized that it was intentional and the man was glopping her legs. Laura was vocal about it, but the people around her merely ignored her. She felt ashamed and blamed herself and wished she had won something else that night.
In another incident, she was walking in broad daylight, and two men unloading a truck said "look at the tits on that" Laura claims that they continued openly making inappropriate comments about her without caring whether she could hear them. The mentioned incidents above portray the apparent sexism among women despite claims that women were equal to men. She further highlights similar experiences of women and the inequality that exists in politics, law and work environment all channeled towards discrimination of women and sexual harassment.
A survey carried out revealed that eight women employees in large companies admit to being sexually harassed. They, however, do not report it due to fear of losing their jobs and how the society justifies the sexual harassment of women. The organization views women as the seductress and claim that they attract the inappropriate comments from men. The survey also shows that sixty-three percent of employees believe that sexism still happens in the workplace. The poll also indicates that the sexism had increased up to seventy-six percent among the female employees (Topping, 2017).
In another incident, Bethany Blount a severe technical person, a veteran software engineer faces discrimination from a job applicant. The applicant, the man did not give her an easy time during the interview. He knew that she held an impressive position but kept blowing her off with a flippant comment. (Mundy, 2017)Conclusion
