Every successful nation will always give priority to education as it is one of the strongest pillars a nation takes into consideration. When education system of any particular nation is relevant and is welcomed by the citizens of that particular nation, then, economic problems such as unemployment will be minimized. For many decades, the choice of the education system has brought a lot controversy among many scholars. Some scholars argue that the current system does not permit the learners to choose what they want and what they want to become in future.
Of late skill development and vocational training, education has shade some light to the modern education system since there is something to learn for everyone and every nation want to switch to this system (Osborne, pp. 67-69). However, it is not a simple task because differences have emerged when it comes to addressing questions like what exactly an essential education entail does? And should alterations be made to the existing system? This issue needs to be addressed, and a lasting solution found.
Thesis Statement
A good education curriculum should keep the foundation of prosperity and success to all learners. Moreover, it should allow students to acquire knowledge about other activities such as physical education, music and many more.
Perhaps this is the most frequently discussed topic among many nations who wish to alter their systems due to changing economic conditions. Ideally, the loopholes that those who are against the current system are claiming is that it is not good to subject students to follow a specific curriculum which will not eventually help them improve. On the other hand of those who are in support of the current system argue that the current education system is a basic system to all learners that will help them to clinch employment in the future. Most educators always choose a general curriculum which is based on general knowledge to all students (Osborne, pg. 44). This implies that every student has to fit in the system and the curriculum because there is no otherwise.
However, this has brought some negative implications on some of the students. For instance, I happened to have a personal experience when some of my colleagues and I opted to drop out of school to follow our interest since our interests were not captured in the system. Furthermore, the current education system denied us freedom of enhancing our creativity and innovation. However, I decided to rejoin school again after being convinced by my parents and close friends.
A good curriculum should be accommodative, extensive and all-inclusive. This implies that the current system not only needs reforms but it is no longer compatible with many economies as well. The contemporary schooling curriculum is trying to do away with students personality and future by manipulating them to fit into the existing system (Yanushevsky, pg. 177). Educators who are against the general curriculum further warn that in case the system is not changed then, the government will be letting down the future generations.
Critics have cited that the current education system has got many loopholes making it a subject for many critics. For instance, the major problem with the system is that it does motivate many students at their young age. Millions of young generations do not understand any reason for going to school, except for obligation purposes. For instance, when I went to school I was indoctrinated by the scenario that I was to work hard, go to a good college and finally get a well-paying job. However, the future nowadays is uncertain and is not guarantee anymore due to economic effects like increasing population and unpredicted economic circumstances. This, therefore, calls for the diversification of the education system to be in line with the uncertainty of the future (Yanushevsky, 2011).
The rational model of the mind stipulates that the real intelligence comprise the capacity of deductive thinking and reasoning and knowledge of classics, which is commonly referred to as academic ability. This system should be changed since it divided people into seclusions of those who are educated and those who are not trained, smart individuals and those who are not smart. Moreover, this system is designed to make kids forget any distractions such as games and focus entirely on education, and in the long run, students lose interest, hardly thinking straight and losing their concentration completely. Students disengage because in class they are given theory and are required to memorize it without knowing any relevance of the context in real life situation.
Conclusion
It is now evident that, to achieve a higher number of students succeeding in life, an inclusive education system has to be put in place and reforms and changes made in the current education system and curriculum. An inclusive education system will minimize school dropouts and ensure that students have a positive attitude in whatever they are perusing. Moreover, creativity and more significant innovations will be realized if this changes are put in place and enacted.
