This is a research design in which statistical analyses are used to guide case selection to realize in-depth research and then outline a proper direction to scrutinize more case studies while making relevant comparisons. The comparisons can then be used to conduct more tests of the hypotheses resulting from small-N research. In this respect, the analysis of small-N can then be utilized to scrutinize the plausibility of the existing statistical relationship existing between the variables used in the study. This works to produce theoretical insights and produce desirable measurement strategies. This method works to integrate the strengths of study in all the approaches used in the case study. In essence, the case studies should be in such a way that they portray the possibility of producing one single outcome. In the case of studying the factors that caused Social Democrats in Sweden to succeed in the 20th century elections, nested analysis would begin by conducting both small-N and large-N analysis before settling on a single method of analysis. This involves considering different studies discussing the reasons for the success of Social Democrats and the comparing the common variables discussed by both studies. This makes it possible to determine the factors that discuss a single outcome, which in this case, is the reason for Social Democrats success in Sweden in the twentieth century.

Most-similar analysis

This is a type of analysis that is more comparative in nature since it takes into consideration the existing general empirical propositions. It involves conducting an examination of empirical relationships existing between the variables used in that particular study. This method of analysis is not just based on results of study but rather a logic inquiry into the things that brought about the results. The ability to apply a research strategy depends on the benefits and features of that particular research work. The applicability of a particular research depends on three factors: whether or not interaction of variables is at systematic level, whether the study involves the use of deductive or inductive method, and whether or not the study involves the use of constant or changing decedent variable. The combination of these three dimensions is important in conducting a comparative research. Based on the study of reasons for the success of Social Democrats in Sweden, this type of analysis holds that rather than just stating the reasons for success, it is important to scrutinize the relationship between the factors discussed and how they interact or play out to bring about success of the Social Democrats in Sweden in the twentieth century. This study is more in-depth and seeks to examine the relationship between all variables used in the study to bring about a single outcome, which in this case, is the success of Social Democrats in Sweden.

Within-case analysis

This is a type of research that involves conducting an in-depth analysis of one particular case study as a standalone body. In this respect, it involves becoming intimately familiar with one single case at one particular time so as to be able to understand the patterns and processes involved in the entre study. This serves to avoid any kind of confusion arising from studying many entities at the same time. In the case of studying the factors for success of Social Democrats in Sweden, this type of research serves to consider different research studies having a single outcome then choosing to focus on one major study that seems to possess all the requirements or all the details necessary to bring about a desirable outcome.
