6. Access
Introduction
Lincoln city as known, is a thin elongated town that stretches along the coast and into the countryside. It is considerably made up of many sites that require an easy access. First, being along the coast, the city hosts several sandy beaches in England which offer quite an attraction. Being a major tourists destination, deemed by the several parks it hosts, Lincoln receives many tourists. According to Verma (2015), access remains one of the top most priorities for consideration while evaluating the extent of success that tourism can result in. Therefore, the city has invested in ensuring access to the various sites from several locations in the city. Below are some of the citys spots, and an accompanying means of access right from the Siletz Bay at the southern Taft to the end of the White Cascade Head, which caps the northern end:
Highway 18 - This highway marks the beginning of Lincoln city and goes to about 70 miles. Along it, lies towns with the best wine preparation skills collectively referred to as the Lush Yamhill Wine Country. Other points of interest are the charming towns of art collections such as the McMinnville hosting the Howard Hughes spruce goose in a museum.
Highway 22 This highway starts off from Salem and meets the former road at Grande Ronde near the casino. It heads straight through the Van Duzer forestland passageway until it passes Otis right into the city.
Otis Otis is a small town right before one gets into Lincoln city. The town is known for the culinary services that travelers have at the famous Otis cafe.
Devils Lake as one heads south of the city, the immediate beautiful scene is the lake whose environment has been set to meet the needs of the visitors that stream in at any time of the day. Equipped with tent sites and parking lots, the lake is indeed a place of rest for any visitor in the city.
Beach access off Jetty Avenue the NW Jetty Avenue contains numerous beach accesses through the various streets featured in the avenue. The NW 40th, 39th, and 26th westwards running from 101 are just but samples. At the end of the 40th street lies an access that leads to Shilo Inn. The Grace Hammond, which is found at the end of NW 34th street is another access. The last bit along the avenue is found at the NW 26th where a parking lot is available as well as an eye-catching site.
Beach Access off NW Harbor and NW Inlet Avenues the avenue also offers access through the NW 21st street. However, the parking at this access is not entirely organized. Besides, it is merely adequate to host the several tourists visiting the region.
NW 15th Access Ramp- through this access, though not quite accommodating, one can find a parking space. However, the place is muddy, and a slight miscalculation may result in one being stuck in the mud.
Areas to be ImprovedNotably, access is a crucial aspect of tourism; hence, any related shortcoming must be addressed promptly. In Lincoln, there are access bays which are not furnished well enough such as the NW 15th street access and the Beach Access off NW Harbor. Both require urgent and prompt action. On that note, the state government has seen to the plan that will ensure the improvement of the conditions in the two access sites (Urness, 2017). Remarkably, an improvement will bring forth more visits through each beach access.
9. Challenges and Recommendations
Amenities
Amenities refer to the various services that are required by tourists to meet their needs while they are away visiting foreign lands. These services include public toilets tailored for their use, shopping centers, cafes, and restaurants. Considering that most of the services are publicly shared, a high management is required to ensure that the conditions are at the best levels, and that every each one of them is in the right shape (Verma, 2015). That will not only add to the number of tourists visiting a place but will also ensure good reports concerning the facilities.
In consideration of the above, Lincoln city sites are well placed at handling their visitors professionally. Some specific social amenities are set aside for tourists, and those at the disposal of the locals. That way, local tourist needs do not compete those of the international tourists. Apart from the few problems related to parking slots that need adjustments, the city has made an enormous step to cater for their tourists, and this has so far seen to the increase in the number of visitors received.
Language
Visiting a foreign place can be quite challenging. Considering the barriers that come with language hindrances. There are cases when international tourists cannot express their needs in totality due to the barriers that result from different national languages. It is on that note that tourism departments advocate for a diverse fluency in international languages before employment.
Lincoln city is a Spanish speaking region, and therefore, Spanish is the most widespread language of communication. Fortunately, the city has the second language as English, and so many people can communicate fluently in it. Therefore, tourists who understand the language are at an advantage. However, the city does not have as much Chinese speaking population as the former two. Thus, tourists of the origin do not find pleasure in visiting the region. It is essential that the government offers training programs on the language for everyone in the tourism field. In so doing, more personnel will be available to take care of the various tourists.
