Survey summary
Performance and smooth running of school activities are dependent on the quality of administration in place as well as the involvement of all other related stakeholders. Sound administration regime which emphasizes democracy creates collaboration and a collegial atmosphere. I surveyed to understand how strategic leadership and management affect running of school activities.
Similarities and difference between the responses of the two principles which took the survey
The two principals who took the survey answered all questions effectively thus allowing me to collect all the data required for the assignment. The information captured showed a difference in the way strategic plans were being developed and implemented. One principle indicated that all stakeholders are always involved in developing strategic plans and implementing them. The other one noted that most activities regarding strategic plans were handled by the faculty and committees which in the real sense means that democracy is never upheld always.
Both principals responses showed that their leadership promoted the success of their students by facilitating studies and well-being. Facilitation is done while involving the community as well as all other stakeholders involved. Both of them focus on proper communication within a pluralistic society, displaying negotiating skills on behave of all parties involved.
It is evident from the survey that the management in both schools is focused towards providing equity in for all students and staff at all times. With this came continuous improvement in the school performance through examination assumptions, beliefs and practices held by the school community.
Roles of the principals
The principals are responsible for making management decisions which enhance learning and teaching. They should always make sure that teachers, students and staff adhere to the set school rules. Moreover, with the support of other stakeholders, they ensure that the teaching curriculum is also respected to at all times. Consequently, improving the performance of the school as a whole (Schule, 2014).
Moreover, the principal plays the role of taking risks to improve the skills; they are responsible for putting in place practices which enhance the school's performance. While doing this, they can use their assumptions and beliefs which are in line with provided school guidelines. Also, they should frequently review this practices customs and beliefs to ensure that they are still operating within the set of given regulations.
Finally, principals are responsible for involving other stakeholders in the management process. Together with all stakeholders involved in the school activities, they provide a safe environment for learning (Schule, 2014). Moreover, they should always ensure that high-quality standards and expectations are always realised academically. This is can only be achieved when the principle trusts other people and their judgements.
How the role of the principle uphold the school mission and vision
The school vision helps shape the school plans, actions and educational programs, similarly the principal together with other stakeholders work daily towards improving the general well-being of the school as a whole. The management ensures that high-quality standards are always followed concerning the school mission and vision.
Progress towards meeting the school vision is efficiently achieved through effective communication with all stakeholders involved in running of the school affairs. When the school community is involved, the spirit of teamwork and cohesion is developed (Schule, 2014).
For the vision and missions to be met, the management should take risks in making decisions which are aimed at realising the visions. The plans, strategies and actions put in place by the administration ensure that the vision of the organisation is met in the long run.
How the role of the principal exemplify ethical behaviour
The decisions made by the principal are within regulations enacted by the state and other authorities. Provision of a suitable environment which enables learners to achieve their educational goals is vital in any institution of learning (Chapman, 2002). Following the school curriculum ensures that the students perform exemplary in school.
Moreover, the ability to take risks and have a plan of actions which adhere to the set regulations ensure that ethical behaviour is maintained at the school. Regular behaviour check with emphasises on a review of actions, beliefs and traditions to ensure that they are within the set rules by the authorities (Chapman, 2002).
Furthermore, the principal plays the role of communicating and involving other stakeholders in making decisions that affect the institution. All stakeholders will feel appreciated in the long run. The feeling of appreciation leads to effective collaboration and collegial working environment.
