It is the last day of summer and I am home alone; nothing much different. My dad is at work and I just got off face time with my mom. My dad and I live in Atlanta while my mom lives in California. Her name is Shannon and she is probably the nicest person I know. She is slender, about 58 and has black hair. My father is a doctor about 510 and has black hair too. My parents divorced when I was three and I always wanted to live with my mother. My new school is called Fernbank and although I find that name weird I am ok with it. I heard the door open downstairs and I ran towards the stairs and I was happy that my dad was home until I saw his girlfriend. She is 58, has black hair too and is rather stubborn. I went ahead and great my dad, Hi dad, how are you? Good, its late and I am going to bed, so should you. came his reply. Yes dad I said. I walked up the stairs, closed the door behind me and went straight into the bathroom. I stared into the mirror and for a minute I thought to myself whether to brush my teeth or not. If there was one thing I really detested was brushing my teeth. I decided to forgo that part of my daily routine and so I immediately called my mom to wish her a good night. It was then that I switched off the lights and retired to bed.
The following morning I was woken up by my dog licking me all over in the face. His name is Lighting, and he is the cutest dog ever. He is black in color with a white line through his stomach. We got him around three years ago. I changed and went downstairs where I found my dad in the kitchen cooking breakfast. I ask him, What are you cooking? I am cooking your favorite omelet, he said. Thanks, dad, I said happily. I quickly downed my breakfast, and then we drove off to school. I had never been to my school before and hadnt even seen the inside of it. I only knew my teacher's name; Ms. Haquichaf. I laughed when I heard the name for the first time. It must have been the dumbest name I have ever heard of. I do not want to imagine her life as a kid she must have been an object of ridicule because of that name. That was my life too; my name is Smith, they called me Smithysmith. From a distance the school looked like it had been taken straight out of a dumpster. Although big, it was all brown with a rusty roof. For an elementary school, it was way too big. In the middle of thought, my father interrupted, Oh, I forgot to tell you that this is not your school, your school is under construction, this one is an abandoned middle school. Thanks for the information daddy came my reply.
As my dad pulled up, I saw so many kids so full of themselves; it was obnoxious. I was ready to barf. As I hopped out of the car, I already had a bad feeling about the school. I turned around, bid my father goodbye and after closing the door, he quickly drove off. As I walked towards the main door, I saw this teacher and at first glance he appeared nice to me. Do you know where Ms. Haquichafs room is? I asked him. His reply was straightforward, Go down the hallway and take a right turn at the end of the hallway. Are you new here? I said yes. Call me Mr. Z. Nice to meet you I replied and walked away. Halfway down the hallway I had already forgotten what Mr. Z had told me and so I just followed the signs. I saw the classroom at a glance, and I felt like I was going to pass out. My heart was pounding so hard. I said to myself, breath. I stood straight and kept walking and assured myself that I was ready for anything.
Just I walked through the door, the lights went off, and everybody started talking. I sat at the back of the class because the front was fully occupied. Across the room were these kids who I thought to myself must be the cool kids. One of them kept staring at me in a creepy manner, and a feeling of insecurity ran through me. I was about to ask him why he was giving me such stares but decided to keep quiet because I did not want to start on the wrong foot. It is then that I saw the teacher at the corner. She was approximately 55, had black hair and had the biggest dimple ever; one that could have easily broken the world record. She hopped from her chair and said, Hello kids, it is nice to meet you all. My name is Ms. Haquichaf. The kids broke out in laughter, and Ms. Haquichaf quickly shouted shush! The room was quiet again. You can also call me Ms. H. She said. I thought to myself that Ms. H was much more comfortable. She kept talking and talking, and it was then that I dozed off. I would like you guys to meet our new student Timmy. Ms. H said. I immediately looked up and asked What? She said, Timmy, introduce yourself. I stood up and amidst fear said, Hi, my name is Timmy. I was born in New York and went to a school called Mary Dal. and quickly sat down. I thought I was going to have a seizure. Ms. H said, Thanks, Timmy. Ok class; let us get out our supplies an start sorting them. She called the names to pass out the boxes, but I did not hear my name. It then came to my head that my dad had not ordered my supplies.
The day came to an end, and it was time to go home. On this particular day, my nanny showed up late which was unusual for her. After waiting for about an hour, she finally showed up and told me she had gone to my old school. I laughed at her. My nanny is 57 with black hair. She has a baby by the name Shan who is so cute. He is blond and is the complete opposite of his mother. I got into the car, and we drove off. Upon reaching home, I went upstairs and relaxed for a while before my dad came home. My nanny had already left so I was all alone. When my dad got back, I ran to him and told him that he had forgotten to order my school supplies. He informed me that he had ordered them like an hour ago. We wished each other goodnight and went to our respective bedrooms. Earlier, I had already talked to my mother for like 5 hours, but I still call her to wish her a good night. It is then that I stood at the mirror thinking whether I should clean my teeth or not. I decided not to, and so I turned off the lights and retired to bed.
The next thing I know I was awake but this time, not my dog waking me up, it was me falling off the bed. I miss summer so much not because I sleep a lot but because I do not get to wake up fast like on school days. I have been in school for about a week now, and I have made a few friends. In my new school, the kids love sports so much, but I cannot participate because I have a rare condition called Hemoptysis. A condition whereby my spleen is enlarged, and I could get hit hard by a ball, and it could blow up. I cannot play any sports. No P.E either, so I just sit there and watch my friends play most of the time. I am afraid that they are going to ask me to play with them because I will have to say no and that does not happen. It is on a Monday, my least favorite day because that means waking up early for the better part of the week. That kid who kept throwing glances at me on the first day still does so, and it feels like I know him from somewhere. As I was walking down the stairs, I missed the last step, and I tripped over and fell. I thought to myself that this must have been a bad morning for me. I am a very clumsy guy. I walk into the kitchen, and no one is there save for a note on the counter that read, Dear Timmy, I am at Giannakas house. Yes, that is my dads girlfriends name, I dont like her name, and I dont really care at all. I will be back at 8:00 so we can go to school. Make yourself some breakfast. Love, Dad. The note concluded. I looked at the clock, and it was 6:00. I thought to myself that I had some time before school time. I wondered where Lightning was and I looked around for a while before I found him in the pantry area munching on a box of cheese. I said to him, Come on! get out of there. It is then that he got out of the bag. I wasnt really hungry for breakfast, so I just sat down and watched T.V for a while before dad came back. I walked upstairs to use the restroom. Looking into the mirror, I contemplated on whether I should brush my teeth and I thought, Sure, why not? Just as I was about to pick my toothbrush, my dad got home, and I zoomed downstairs out of the door without brushing my teeth.
When I got to school, I did not have a good feeling at all. I remembered the feeling I had the first day of school, but today it was worse. I assured myself that I would be fine. I got out of the car and walked down the long hallway all the way to the classroom. When I got into the classroom, the kid with the weird glances from my first day in class was still doing so, and I did not know why. During class, he kept looking at me and this time in an angry, mean and mad manner. Fortunately, the bell rang, and it was time for recess.
None of my new friends is in my class, and so I have to meet them at the playground. I saw them in a corner. Ricky who was my favorite was a nice guy, had black hair and a very big nose. Mike was okay, and I did not think that he liked me that much. He was short with black eyes, had black hair a kind of a devilish face. There was also Coal; he was the quiet type. Nerdy but nice. He had black hair and was of average height. I said to them, Hi guys. Ricky replied, Hi Timmy, how are you? I said, good, you?. Ricky said, I'm good, would you like to be a goalie when we play soccer?. I said, Sorry, no I can't. Ricky walked away to play soccer. Out of nowhere, Mike said, You wimp, be the goalie! I said, Ok, I will show you. I walked up to the goal shaking like one who was about to pass out because of fear. Then the kid who always stared at me all through class asked Ricky if he could play. Ricky said to him, Yes of course. The kid then threw a mean quick stare at me for a split second, and that did not help me feel any better. They started playing and had not come over this side of the field yet. That kid was coming with the ball down the field. Then he kicked the ball straight at me not even trying to point it at an easier spot to score. Then I remembered who he was; his name was Jim. He went to Pre-k with me, and while in Pre-k I took his juice box. He was mad at me for his juice box. I tried to duck, but the ball was too fast for me. It hit me right in the stomach; it hurt so bad. Everyone gathered around me I said Im good and kept playing. Everything got dizzy; Then it started getting dark. They said, The spleen finally blew.
At this point, I saw some light and I saw an object standing where i was. It was clearing up; it was my mom. I screamed MOM, so loud it probably broke someones eardrum. I looked around and asked where my dad was. My mom said, He is at the lake house. Then I said, I am happy to see you. Then my mom said I have good news for you, you are moving to California. All i could think was everything happens for a reason.
