Person I Admire Most in History - Martin Luther King Jnr

As a leader, I have drawn my inspiration from many people who I consider to be of significant help to the society. Notably, in the contemporary world, courageous leaders, as well as the people who are willing to fight for others welfare, are rare. Undoubtedly, the world today has transformed due to many of these leaders that dedicated their lives as change agents. This paper exemplifies the person I admire most (Martin Luther King) highlighting various aspects of his contributions to that impacted the lives of many. Although Martin Luther King is considered a radical revolutionary, he relentlessly fought for the rights of African-American people and for this reason he is my hero.

Firstly, I admire Martin Luther King because he was a firm crusader for civil rights of people (Carson, 2014). Growing up, I watched many people face various injustices in the society. As such, I have always read materials and resources in this regard to gain insightful information on how to establish procedures through which they can be helped. Martin Luther believed in equal rights for all. On the same note, as a point of emphasis on his notions, Luther gave reference to Mahatma Gandhi from India. He posited that non-violent movements would significantly contribute towards achieving equality. Moreover, Luther was very much irritated with racial segregation. He may at times found himself on the receiving end when he fought to abolish apartheid in the bus. The African Americans were sidelined by the whites, and they were not supposed to access certain buses as well as other restricted public places. Through bus boycott movement, speeches, and sermons, he voiced out his demands for equal rights.

I have always been interested in rendering services to humanity. Therefore, I have extensively established many strategies in working with the community. Like Martin Luther, I have excellent mobilization skills which I can use constructively to shape social behavior of people and convince many people to embrace development and respect for human life. Non-violence, to emphasize, contributed to influencing social behavior and promoted the need to respect human life (Hubbard, Carson & King, 2001). The blacks were known to be tough people, and it was not difficult undertaking to attempt to calm them due to the injustices they faced. But, Luther managed to convince many of the Negro to maintain sobriety in their quest for freedom. He was aware many had died in this course, and he was not willing to let the loss of more lives.

Being a strong believer in practicing what one preaches, I admire Martin Luther for his stance. He earned accolade form many people for his decision-making skills and all that sort of mannerism. He is an epitome of peace and freedom. King did not only preach, but he also practiced his preaching. He lived a life, in my opinion, true life. He spoke of morals, value, actions that he followed (P. McKissack & F. McKissack, 2013). In this light, he was a cheerleader for the middle class and the poor who were mostly the blacks. He guided them in the church on matters of decision-making and public service through hard work (Pimblott, 2010). According to Peake (2008), He encouraged his parishioners to help the needy and to be active in organizations such as the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) (p. 71). It is quite a good idea to help people make decisions on matters of working hard.

Summarily, Martin Luther King is my hero for his actions that brought positive changes in the US. He persistently fought for the rights and social justice of Americans particularly the blacks who were segregated by the whites. I will continue in the quest of fighting for justice. I will also contribute towards averting racism and contributing to the development of the society. Martin Luther Kings legacy lives on.
