The Alliance for Nonprofit Management is one of the major public administration organizations in the United States. Forbes recognizes it as the leading national knowledge community that is dedicated to building the capacity of individuals, groups, and communities who work with the aim of achieving a desired positive change in addition to the cultural enrichment. To achieve its mission, the organization applies the Research to Practice which stimulates the exploration of the research of the academics as well as workers who are non-profit. In this way, it carries out the dissemination of the information to raise the efficacy and the impacts of the non-profits. As a public administration organization has always sought to increase the effectiveness of the individuals, groups, organizations that assist the non-profits and the communities to achieve social change. A space for professional dialogue and learning through research amplification is therefore sufficient. Conceivably, the organization targets the entities interested in the improvement of their practices to exchange the perceptions and to translate and apply the research. In this way, it believes that it will be able to promote and inform research that provides a greater understanding into various fields that include capacity building, academics, and field studies, among others
As depicted on the organizations website, the Organizational chart is more horizontal, but some aspects of verticality can also be seen. The body is headed by a director, who occupies the top-most position in its administrative structure. This means that it is the Board of Directors who are charged with the responsibility of overseeing that the entire mission has been achieved. Below this level is a group of different departments that include fundraising, budget, and finance, nominating and the Ad hoc programs committees. They have various roles depending on nature and the activities undertaken by each department, but all have the equal powers and therefore fall in the same horizontal category.
Below this level is another groups of executive officers mandated to perform different roles depending on the activities and nature of the issuers handled within each department. On a wider note, it consists of various departments with equal powers and authorities and therefore is found within the same horizontal level in the organization's chart structure. It, therefore, integrates various units such as that of Assistant Director of Development, CFO Assistant Director Finance, Assistant Director Operations, and Assistant Directors in the planning and marketing department, community affairs and the human resources. Undeniably, both the horizontal and vertical organizational chart is therefore portrayed in this case. The horizontal aspects facilitate the dissemination of the information throughout the departments established within the same departmental levels. On the other hand, the downward and vertical mechanism is essential on various aspects such as in facilitating the communication between organizational departments found in the different level in the chart. It is more like the same as the communication between senior officers and junior officers within an organization.
I have also learned that the integration of the vertical aspect of any organizational chart and structure facilitates decision-making and reduces any possible kind of bureaucracy. As a public administration company, therefore, it becomes able to disseminate information regarding the leadership capacity, and governance thus stimulates the faster achievement of its vision and mission.
