This research also outlines the importance of incorporating policy and procedures that address discrimination in the workplace and discusses the three primary benefits of embracing diversity in an organization.
Promoting Diversity in the Workplace
Two primary methods can be employed to promote diversity in the workplace. First, the acceptance of diversity in the workplace can be achieved by encouraging all personnel to educate themselves about different cultures, traditions, and other aspects of a diverse population at the organization. Subsequently, this will enable all persons to understand their colleagues in the organization. Second, diversity in an organization can also be realized fully by encouraging the personnel to conduct an individual evaluation of their outlook on diversity at the workplace. Additionally, an example of such evaluations can be performed through the use of Diversity Assessment Tool, which was enacted by the Department of Labor and Advanced Education Workplace Initiatives in Canada (Nova-Scotia, 2017).
Encouraging Diversity Education for The Employees
Two primary methods can be employed to encourage an organizations personnel to take diversity education. First, the management of an organization can offer the staff incentives such as free tuition and salary bonuses to encourage the staff to take up educational training on diversity at the workplace. Second, the management can make it a mandatory requirement for all personnel in an organization to take up workplace diversity education. Consequently, this will make all personnel in an organization to take up the training in order to retain their job positions.
Incorporating Policy and Procedures That Address Discrimination in the Workplace
The management department in an organization can incorporate policy as well as procedures that address the issue of discrimination in the workplace by creating an employees codes of conduct document. Additionally, such a document should be comprehensive in detailing how the employees are supposed to behave towards or relate to each other in an organization. Moreover, the document should contain penalties towards the personnel who will go against the guidelines defined in the code of conduct official document in the organization. Furthermore, examples of such penalties could include suspension or termination of employment due to discrimination. Ultimately, the document should be distributed to all personnel in the organization.
