China is a sovereign state found in East Asia. The country is the most populous in the world and carries a population of approximately 1.5 billion. The area of china is 9,600,000 square kilometers that makes it be ranked fourth in being large in the world making it have even the most neighbor countries. The landscape of China is diverse and vast ranging from the Taklamakan and Gobi deserts that are in the arid north up to the south in the wetter subtropical forests. With 22,117-km2 China has the longest joint land border in the entire universe and it borders around 14 countries making it second to having neighbor countries after Russia. Also, it shares a maritime boundary with countries like; Japan, South Korea, Philippines and Vietnam (Tuan, Yi-fu 55). The country lies between longitudes 73 and 135 degrees east and latitude 18 and 54 degrees north. The country experiences significant temperature differences in between summer and winter since the climate there is dictated wet monsoon and dry seasons.
Chinas constitution guarantees freedom of religion. Conversely, the government of China is considered atheist, but there is a state administration for religious affairs that oversees the religious issues and affairs in China. There are religious movements that have influence china lately: Taoism, Buddhism, and Confucianism. The living languages in China are 292, but the most commonly used is of a Sinitic branch from the family of Sino-Tibetan language. The language contains Hakka, Gam, Wu, Min and Mandarin, which is spoken by 70% of the people. China has high-class agriculture that has employed over 300 million people. They are ranked first in the world in farm output. They produce cotton, rice, wheat, barley, soybeans, tomatoes, potatoes, tea, and sorghum. Its agriculture produces food enough for 20 % of the population in the world, which is the key role in enhancing the growth of a population. Industry in China contributes 48% of the GDP of China (Breslin, Shaun 106). The country is second in the ranking of industrial output. Their major industries include; mining, processing of minerals and agricultural products, automobiles and electronics.
In the world, china has the most popular culinary heritage. There are eight culinary traditions in China, which are Cantonese, Zhejiang, Hunan, Jiangsu, Anhui, Shandong, Szechuan, and Fujian and Cantonese being the most popular in the world. Some of the most popular foods in China are fried mashi, Stinky Tofu, Dumplings, Sweet and Sour Eggplant and Yak Meat Dumplings. The spices and seasonings they like using are; garlic, cilantro, scallion, fresh ginger root and sesame. The cinnamon, cloves, fennel and white peppers are also used in different regions The Chinese food, and its preparations influence the culture or the major philosophies like Taoism and Confucianism. The culture of Taoism which is also a religion focuses on food that promotes longevity, health and can heal (Yang, Xiaoling 256). A holiday (cultural) or religious meal comprises of steamed dumplings, a selection of desserts and suckling pig.
During a Peking duck holiday feast the meal served is; Peking duck with mandarin pancakes, seaweed, Chinese celery cabbage in cream sauce, fish in wine sauce and pickled cabbage Peking style. Another festive that is most important is the Chinese New Year that is in between January and February. The phase of the moon is what determines the time of this festive. The meals they eat are oyster that they believe brings good fortune, fish that symbolizes prosperity, tangerines and orange to show sweet life and a fried duck (Yang, Xiaoling 259). They believe all those things will come along in their New Year.
