Counterterrorism and Aviation Intelligence - Essay Sample

Aviation facility are areas of high risk of terrorism acts thus counterterrorism, and intelligence department needs to be well organized to gather information from the gatherings to prevent any planned terrorist attack. The intelligence committee and experts need this information to counter the anticipated efforts of terrorist in case they are discovered with urgency and immediate effect. Consequently, the systems to counter-attack the occurrence of a planned terrorist attack in aviation requires a well-developed signal strength and experienced intelligence team to take note of a fishy action in the aviation ground gatherings (Tebbetts, 2013). This paper aims at analyzing Human Intelligence Gathering abbreviated as HUMINT method and the possible ways by which the approach is used to counterattack aviation terrorists attack.

In spite of the fact that the HUMINT is the oldest information collection method for counterattacking terrorism attack, it still holds the position of the most efficient way of informing the intelligence team of dealing with a planned attack in aviation grounds. It is a type of intelligence approach that typically involves an informer or agent dwelling in a gathering or crowd around aviation grounds snooping in any activity taking place without letting their investigative methods to be known by the conference (Tebbetts, 2013). Notwithstanding the fact that it is the most efficient way of collecting information around the aviation grounds, it is also the most dangerous of all since the results are usually slow but sure. However, HUMINT is the most reliable approach to collecting terrorists information since it offers concrete and dependable information thus providing a definite step forward for analysts to decipher.

The most efficient manner that HUMINT employs is conducting collection of information through military attaches, espionage, NGOs and incorporation of the U.S. special operations units of the military. Evans, Meissner, Brandon, Russano, and Kleinman (2010) asserted that HUMINT capability and effectiveness has so many different agencies, specialized organizations, and trained personnel that are used to collect information thus increasing the efficiency and capacity of the approach. HUMINTs method of data collection provides a plethora of data that enables analysts to used and decode the possible way of handling aviation planned attack without causing panic to the people on board. It is a method that multiplies and enhances the American intelligence operations to the extent of the unmatched level.

Additionally, the approach portrays the capability to penetrate cells and enhance the gathering f firsthand information. HUMINT is, therefore, a method whose capacity and ability to secure people in a gathering cannot be outdated because all terrorists actions can only be practical if they work and conspire with people. According to Logan (2010), HUMINT employs viable techniques like taking photographs and documents thus debriefing the national and foreign citizens on issues concerning traveling abroad, controlling the contact of people with huge gatherings thus enhancing the role of technical intelligence in making viable decisions on matters concerning the conferences around aviation.

In summation, the security of the population around the aviation industry is a mandatory issue that needs a practical approach that is capable of penetrating among large gatherings and collecting viable data relevant in preventing an attack on masses around the aviation grounds. For that matter, HUMINT has all the necessary approaches that are evidently relevant and useful in collecting ideas and terrorist planned mischiefs from the masses efficiently since it has been found out that terrorists cannot succeed without associating with people. The use of photography by the informers helps in critically analyzing specific subjects that raises security concerns which later calls for quick and immediate action.
