The compound dihydrogen monoxide (DHMO) gets identified as water (H2O). It is tasteless, odorless, colorless compound. The web pages and emails show the suggestions regarding the toxicity of the compound. They say that thousands of deaths in the world are caused by the inhalation of the DHMO. There is also a suggestion that high exposure to the solid of the compound damages body tissues severely. The excessive urination and sweating, vomiting, the imbalance of the body electrolyte and bloated feeling are some of the symptoms of DHMO ingestion which have been suggested by these individuals. Concerning the environmental effects of the compound, they say that it contributes to the greenhouse effect, causes the erosion of the natural landscape and it speeds up the rusting of metals and corrosion. They say that the compound gets also referred to as hydroxyl acid which the major component of the acid rain.

Although the compound gets construed to be associated with many effects, my opinions for the suggestions given concerning the dangers of the compound gets reflected on the positive side of the compound. Some of the suggestions talk of the facts about the compound with others exaggerating it. According to my evaluation, the compound has more of the benefits when compared to its effects both on human and the natural environment. Firstly the compound is an industrial coolant as well as the solvent. It is used in the production of the Styrofoam and in the nuclear power plants. Many of the food products use it as an addictive substance. Notably, the compound becomes significant in pesticide distribution and many kinds of the cruel animal researchers. Lastly, the compound is used as a fire retardant. In conclusion, every compound has major significance despite its defects.

Nature and the importance of mole

A mole gets defines the mass of substance having the same number of units which are in exactly 12 grams of carbon 12. A mole of something stands for 6.022*10^23 items whether the substance is a molecule, atom or the formula unit. When mole gets define in that manner, it enables an individual to easily convert grams to moles or even the moles to particles. In chemistry, the mole concept provides the bridge between atoms and macroscopic amounts of the materials that are being dealt with in the laboratory. The mole is useful to chemists as it allows them to work with the subatomic world. It enables them to weigh out sizes of substances, for instance, sulfur and iron, in that equal atomic numbers of sulfur and iron are obtained.

Balancing of chemical equations

4Fe + 3O2 2Fe2O3

CaCO3 + 2HCl CaCl2 + CO2 +H2O

2C6H14 + 19O2 12CO2 + 14H2O

Calculation of the formula masses and the Molar masses

Hint: {C=12, H=1, Mn=55, O=16, Xe=131, F=19}

MnO2

Formula mass= 54+ (16*2) = 86

Molar mass= 86 g/mol

C5H12

Formula mass= (5*12) + (12*1) =72

Molar mass=72 g/mol

XeF6

Formula mass= 131 + (6+19) = 245

Molar mass= 245 g/mol

5. Calculation of number of moles

98.0 grams of MnO2

I mole of MnO2 86

98.0 grams of MnO2 ?

= 98*186=1.1395 moles12.0 grams of C5H12

1 mol of C5H12 72

12.0 g of C5H12 ?

= 12*172=0.1667 moles100.0 Grams of XeF6

1 mole of XeF6 245g

100g of XeF6 ?

= 100*1245=0.4082 moles
