Specific Purpose: To persuade the audience into donating Blood

Proposition: To persuade the audience to donate blood. Blood donation process is simple and secure and by donating blood you are saving someone life. You can be a lifesaver if you take up the call save a life of human being through donation because it is easy and though there might be less pain involved it worth saving millions of life through blood donation

Introduction:

(Attention Getter) what feeling does someone get when waiting for something that you are really in need of? My wife of ten years was involved in a road accident on the night that she was going to give birth, and she was in dire need of blood so urgently. She had to be put on the waiting list in the hospital, but it around few hours for us to get a possible donor because there was no match for blood type in the blood bank. There was this man who had brought his sick sister to the hospital and after listening to our case, he agreed to donate. It was such a relief to my family and I butt what kept on distributing my mind was, what if the hospital got the same case like ours or another family had to go through what I had to go through?

(Credibility statement) As a Red cross member in this country, I want to persuade you to join our mission of saving lives by donating blood regularly because donating blood allows another person who is need of blood to have a second chance in life and by doing so you become a hero

(Preview) Today I will try to persuade you to ride on our mission of saving a life by donating blood because of it simple, safe and secure. You too can become a hero, join other millions by donating blood and saving lives.

Body:

Making a difference in someone life .imagine such a situation where someone you know or your family member is in need of blood donor to save his life. To save the situation similar to this or even worse, we all need to donate blood in large number. Did you know that every two second someone in America needs blood? (Bovet 2011)

2 014) To save this situation we need to come out in large numbers to give out blood ,it does not care where you are from, race gender and color people need to be encouraged to donate in large numbers because according to the Red cross statistics there is always a need of blood when someone is admitted in hospital.

41,000 donation is needed in the country and about 39% of the Americans are eligible to donate blood and less than 10% chose to give this gift and about 4.8 million American would die each year without transfusion

Who really need blood?

The blood you donate goes a long way in helping and saving many lives because people involves in road accidents, people that are undergoing surgery, patients suffering from cancer and the women who are about to deliver babies are saved with such a donation of blood.

(Mews, 2013) American who have sickle cell disease receive transfusions each month so these are people you are saving?

Blood donation and process.

Blood donation is a safe process where a needle is used only once for every donor which is later discarded. It involves four steps which include registration, mini-physical and medical history, donation and refreshments. The mini-physical ensures it is safe for the donor to give blood and the actual donation takes less than ten minutes.( Bove,2014) The entire process from the time you arrive at the time you leave takes about an hour so is not a lot of time involved.

The following are facts about the blood donation, blood fluid is replaced within hours,( Slonim, 2014 )you cannot contract Aids or any infectious diseases, giving blood does not in any way decrease your strength and if only one more percent of Americans would donate blood , blood shortage would shall be a thing of the past.( Slonim,2014)

(Transition: Today I urge everyone here to come out in large number and donate blood also come along with a friend. Everyone should become a regular donor in order be saving lives)

Conclusion

If you can be someone hero, now is the chance to take up the opportunity to donate blood and give them a second chance in life. Visit Red Cross office to donate blood and also became a regular donor. By doing so you are helping others in saving a life. saving life.
