Personal appearance, especially in the eyes of many, is crucial in making one confident in undergoing their daily activities. Individuals who feel optimistic about their looks are more likely to live socially fulfilling lives and go on without having to stress themselves about their looks. Individuals in the current world, however, have taken the whole appearance thing to an extent it is becoming a social ill. Many individuals despite not even looking that bad as they think have resorted to engaging in procedures that make them appear to specific standards of looks set within the society.

How a person appears determines their confidence in a lot of ways. Women are the most affected by this social ill with many being made to believe that they should have a specific appearance to look good. Many women have faced a lot of judgments based on their natural looks, and this has forced many of them to consider cosmetic surgeries to enhance their natural looks. This is evident in the number of women looking to have cosmetic surgery evidence by surgeons indicating the increased number of women seeking for these services. Requests for this surgeries have become so many with doctors now having to turn away some people seeking unnecessary cosmetic procedures.

This trend is not coming as a surprise because in the current world obsession about looks is so rampant and people must put up with individuals pressurizing them to have a specific look that they consider makes appear to look good.

Reasons for this social ill

Cosmetic surgery as a trend is attributed to various factors that make people seek to enhance their looks. One main reason according to many individuals seeking this type surgery is not to impress people who judge them but rather satisfy their inner self as their natural look is not that attractive (Peacock). By enhancing the shape of the breasts, nose, and face, they are their looks changed, and people view them as more attractive. An attractive person gets treated differently, and part of this explains why people look to improve their appearance and avoid being embarrassed based on their natural looks.

Another factor that motivates people to undergo cosmetic surgery is the lack of confidence that people have regarding their natural looks. Confidence is even more attractive that facial looks and this is a characteristic that many individuals. People who seek surgeries believe doing so will improve their confidence amongst people and led to improved self-esteem. While there is the rush to have these procedures, many are oblivious to the side effects and other risks involved during and after the surgery. Before one makes any step towards these surgical processes, it is essential that they first consider what impact they could have on their bodies and whether it is necessary. Famous people also have had a role to play in influencing people to turn to ways of enhancing their natural looks. Many celebrities who have improved their looks are more confident and are continually sharing about how this step has been so significant in their lives. Having such individuals talk about how this enhancement has been very instrumental in many aspects of their lives has encouraged many individuals to seek

To understand what cosmetic surgery is all about I will focus on two types of body enhancements that are Botox and lip injection.

Botox

Botulinum toxin(BTX) is a neurotoxic protein which is an approved treatment for wrinkles on a temporary basis. Botox is a cosmetic which is administered through injection to the person's muscles and serves the purpose of improving the forehead lines looks on a temporary basis.

Risk and side effects.

Besides improving the looks of a person, there are associated dangers involved. Administration of Botox is dependent on the severity of the condition being treated. Botox injection, however, is most safe if performed by a qualified doctor. However, there is still a possibility of side effects. Risks of this injection may include dryness of the eye, headache, pain, and swelling of injected parts as well as drooping eyelids ("Botox Injections - About - Mayo Clinic").

Lip injection

Lip injection, on the other hand, is cosmetic surgery that aims to improve the appearance of lips by enlargement them to their full size through the use of fillers.

Risk and side defects of lip injection

Lip injection just like other surgeries has bot the temporary and long-term effects. Temporary risks that emerge from this type of cosmetic surgery include swelling of the lips, bleeding, redness, and cold sores around the lips. Long-term Side effects however which are probably severe swelling for an extended period, irregularities in the size of the lips, the emergence of allergies and in some instances infections.

Solutions to this social ill (cosmetic surgery)

In my view, this social ill is a big problem, and people need to understand that these cosmetic operations are not a solution unless it is essential for one to have one. The main thing, however, that is puzzling is the continuous thinking that people have been made to believe that to be attractive they should appear in a certain way. Our natural look depends on many factors however how we look is dependent on how much love we have for ourselves. One way to deal with this social issue to encourage people to have a more significant social image about themselves. Succeeding in convincing the people to love their natural looks is critical in solving this social ill that forces a lot of people to seek cosmetic surgery to meet specific appearance they consider attractive ("How To Avoid Plastic Surgery: Interview With Dr. Anthony Youn").

Teaching people to lead a lifestyle that does not make their appearance looks terrible is another way of solving this social ill. Many are unaware that most of their problems are because of leading lifestyle that negatively affects their skins and changing that is not possible only through surgery. Encouraging people to consider changing their lifestyle can have an enormous impact on their bodies and through that avoid considering additional types of cosmetic surgery ("How To Avoid Plastic Surgery: Interview With Dr. Anthony Youn").

Education of the public about cosmetic surgery is another important strategy that can help in solving this ill social problem. While advancement has been about cosmetic surgery other are still risks and other side effects associated with this kind of body enhancements. Thus, before one decides to consider an operation, it is vital for people to gauge whether it is necessary for them to have it or they can continue living with their natural looks. Having this kind of informations can help individuals make sound decisions and be able to learn to love themselves naturally.

Famous personalities have been in the forefront in encouraging people to have body enhancements by outlining how they have made them feel as a result. Shows have however not been so instrumental in supporting people to maintain their looks and have confidence in how they look. Since celebrities are imitated by and looked upon by many people they will be motivated to keep their natural looks since someone they know has succeeded in ignoring what other people think about their appearance.

How people think about us and the way we naturally appear should not be a reason for us to look for ways which involve injections and other methods of making one look attractive. People will always have an opinion regardless of whether we appear tremendous or not and for that reason it is of no use for individuals to concern themselves with what others have to say about their appearance. By learning to ignore issues about their looks and having confidence in themselves many will see no reason in seeking surgery.

Conclusion

An excellent appearance that is attractive is what everybody desires. People who we think are great looking, however, do not necessarily appear attractive because of their looks but rather it is the confidence they have in themselves. Based on these revelations it is evident people are never satisfied with their natural images making them consider surgeries as the readily available option. Expectations about our appearances as well as trends set about looks are what has contributed to many secretly seeking for this method of enhancing without consultation. It is therefore advisable to seek broad discussion before deciding to get professional help through surgery. Lastly having personal confidence about our natural looks is very important.
