Overview of American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH)

The American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH) is an organization that was founded in 1903, and it is the largest and most popular international scientific organization whose main aim is to reduce tropical infectious diseases and maintain global health. In 1951, the American Society of Tropical Medicine joined forces with the National Malaria Society to form the current organization which is ASTMH. The organization accomplishes its primary goal through carrying out scientific research and generating evidence, recognizing success in different health fields and promoting investment in worldwide health research. Other than the primary goal, ASTMH has specific goals which include; advancing and advocating research on tropical diseases, providing education on tropical health diseases among others.
