Essay on Corruption Within the Food and Drug Administration

The sole purpose of this letter is to draw your attention towards the underlying findings of the research conducted on Food Corruption within the Government. The research acknowledged the existence of outrage and frustrations that the American people have expressed due to increased levels of corruption within the Food and Drug Administration. The FDA body has in most cases, engaged in illegal retaliation against various studies and research reports that have exposed the negative effects of the government programs such as The Food Pyramid and My Plate in their findings.

In the recent past, controversy revolving around food has been a common phenomenon. Food being a necessity for the survival needs more effort and care. The research recognized that despite the reports that have been made from various studies about the quality and quantity of food that should be consumed, the government still fails to implement such finding to ensure that the American population remains safe. Furthermore, the research revealed that the FDA is aware of the certain food additives that are harmful to the consumers, but instead fails to ban such additives. Furthermore, the FDA has in most cases barred studies that avail negative information about the major companies by ensuring that such studies are not conducted again.

Moreover, studies have shown that most of the dietary studies conducted in America, approximately 90% of the research studies, are funded with the major food companies that are victims of availing unhealthy food to the public. Such kind of studies is unlikely to yield genuine results. This explains the reason for the continued existence of biases in the research studies on cholesterol levels contained in eggs. Furthermore, the studies that have been conducted to show the true impact of meat, especially the red meat have in most cases classified red and processed meat as cancer-causing substances. However, some government corporations are still pushing such facts to the wall and trying to create an image that is contrary to such scientific findings from qualified doctors even from the FDA body itself.

Having gone through the findings of the study, I feel that the culture of cover-up and wrongdoing in the FDA is on the rise and something urgent needs to be done to mitigate the problem. The continued culture of such wrongdoings has formed a longstanding pattern within the operations of the FDA. Instead of carrying out its mandate effectively and ensuring the citizens are safe, the FDA body has chosen money at the expense of human life. I feel that further studies related to the quality and quantity of food safe for consumption will not bear fruitful results with the current culture in the FDA. Something must, therefore, be done.

I share your concerns on the same and urge you to provide the necessary support to cleanse the entire FDA body so that it can operate within the legal jurisdictions and not by the selfish ambitions of certain individuals who value money at the expense of human life. I hope that you will ensure that the FDA body does not operate to distort the scientific findings and weakening of the laid down regulations just to favor some industries and that it carries its operations in a manner that is transparent that is based on sound science so has to improve the lives of all Americans. I hope you will do enough to ensure that the problem is mitigated once and for all.
