Following the implementation of General Motors idea of developing automobiles on American soil, several pertinent issues have been raised concerning the operation of the vehicles. According to GM, the automobiles will make humans operate a vehicle without a steering wheel or pedals and are capable of functioning like a taxi-like service. The question is how will the vehicle account for human passengers? How will it connect with unexpected emergencies like accidents or crash? The problems have raised many discussions and debates on the social media especially Twitter and the internet with more research done on this issue.
Some of the debate questions raised on the operation of the vehicles is how it reacts to dangers like snow which might shut the car down and also the person to be liable in case of an accident. Newcomb (2012) wrote an article explaining the importance of the invention among them being the evasion of acquiring the driver's license. Olson, Eric, (23-4) wrote a journal on the same topic basing his research on the implications of self-driving technologies on consumer relationship. Additionally, McGehee (45) wrote a review on the policy and implementation implications of the automobiles vehicles.
The research covers a wide range of audience who are affected by the invention both positively and negatively. Customers are the primary target of the study. There is need to identify how the passengers will connect with the machines and the assurance of their safety during the drive. Also, there is need to know the vehicles will locate passenger, Pull, over and pick up at various points and drop and picks and handling riders who demand human touch during the drive (Olson, 25). The government is another target audience for the research. Will the federal allow such invention? Consequently, how will they be able to account for the rules in case of accidents? The government has the rules and guidelines that guide the automotive vehicles on the roads. The other primary audience focus is the competitors and the overall automobile vehicle industries. There is need to know the impact that the invention will cause in the business enterprise. Companies like Detroit automakers, Toyota and Ford, will be affected by the invention of the vehicles (Rajasekhar & Anil, 15).
This study aims to identify all the benefits and risks associated with the invention of the automobile vehicles and come up with best solutions. Numerous question has been raised on how the car will react in the time of crash or emergency to ensure the life of passengers is safe. There is need to know whether a backup driver will be sent to accompany the vehicle or the remote control will be used from the station. There is need to identify the impact that the technology will have on the transport sector like the accessibility and affordability of the transport. The unique operation and features of these vehicles need to be identified putting into consideration their advantages and disadvantage like the failure of the machine (McGehee et al. 34).
The main issue to focus on in this invention is on the operation techniques that will oversee customers are well served, and there is less danger imposed on their lives. Clear investigation on how the vehicles will be controlled on the roads need to be analyzed putting into consideration the presence of other vehicles on the streets (Newcomb, 34). Consequently, the issue of following the federal rules need to be investigated. For example how the federal will detect the authority of the vehicles since there are no licenses.
