Social media sites are regarded as a website where users can develop a profile and build a personal network which connects him/her to other users. For many reasons, social media site have been regarded as sites where people can easily interact; however, they can also act as a good platform where people can connect professionally and educationally. Regardless of where you are in your career, social media can help you. There is the certain site for job networking that can help you build your career. For example, I recently visited LinkedIn.com, business and employment-oriented social networking service which operates via the website and mobile apps. It is majorly used for professional networking whereby job seekers post their CVS while employees post job opportunities. LinkedIn allows members both employers and workers to create profiles an connect with each other in an online social network

As a member, I went through various profiles of people, some looking excellent while other were not interesting at all. Most of these profiles contained career history, education and other related information found on a resume. One of an outstanding profile that I came across was that written by Tony Web, an I.T expert, who was seeking a job in the I.T related field. The summary section was well written, and it highlighted everything, as a recruiter, you could be able to tell a lot just from the summary. The person had ideally customized I.T positions that he was applying and the summary showed all positions for which Web wished to be considered. The summary provided professional essence to me as a reader and intrigued me to move on to the next section which was work experience, and just as the summary; the other sections were well articulated.

Another profile that appeared more excellent was for Tony Alison. What made this profile attractive is the way he highlighted his work experience and recommendations sections that included employment, past, education, and industry. Alison tried as much as possible to deal with his unemployment status by avoiding to announce his unemployment to hiring managers. Alison achieved this by putting an end date on his last position and not adding a new one. As such, the profile appeared technically correct, and he was not highlighting his status of being unemployed. Also, the way he recommended individuals he had worked for carried a lot of weight. Alison had not only recommended individuals that recruiters can contact but also collected those individuals views about him and put them on his profile.

From the profile and LinkedIn articles, it is essential to ensure that your profile is always complete and detailed. The profile should have all the same information which is contained in your resumes such as your skills, qualifications and work experience. It is also essential to include certifications, languages and other relevant skills to your profile to make it more robust and hence can get noticed more easily. Another thing has learned is that it is vital to showcase your skills while preparing your profile. Hiring managers mostly look at skills and endorsement sections find you and the way your connections can see, at a glance, the attributes that someone possesses. Having a well-written profile will be essential to me since I will use it as a tool to look for future employment opportunities since I will frequently be updating it.
