According to Jeff Nesbit in his article Climate Change is Bad for Your Health although climate change has essentially been seen as an environmental problem only, new reports show that it is already damaging the human wellbeing on a colossal gauge. His newspaper article is inspired by the enlightening new report by the medical journal, The Lancet that brought out a whole new revelation on the assessment of climate change. In the article, he echoes the words by Anthony Costello, the commissions chairman, who says that climate change is no longer a future prediction but a happening today and it is much a health concern for millions of people in the world today as it is an environmental problem.

The article reports that change in climate is already impacting human health in methods far much worse than it was earlier understood. Nesbit adds that change in climate is not the only environmental issue that is affecting an extensive health issue. However, water, air, and soil pollution are the greatest environmental causes of human diseases and deaths globally at present. Jeff reports that these factors are responsible for an estimated nine million premature human deaths. He goes further to explain that global warming caused by humans threatens to destroy the public health gains made in the past fifty years.

Jeff in his article further reports that temperatures much higher than the rising earths average mainly occur in large urban areas, due to increased pollution. As a result, the elderly, persons over the age of sixty-five, and children who are under twelve months are most affected. Additionally, the people with chronic cardiovascular and renal disease are also profoundly affected by the changes. Moreover, the report also records that lower-income nations experience far more significant economic loss because of climate-related disaster as compared to higher income countries.

Additionally, the report notes that climate change is now threatening the gains made so far in the tracking of the spread of deadly infectious diseases. Although this finding is likely to cause alarm in the public health sector, it is essential for the health practitioners to come together and offer relevant advice and information concerning the effects of climate change and how it significantly affects the human health.

Conversely, the article report also showed that a all-inclusive line of attack to slow global warming could be a significant medical opportunity in the present and future years. The Lancet report elucidates that this can only be possible if troubling medical problems linked to climate change could the health professionals view and talk about the matter. Consequently, the medical professionals have a huge duty of communicating the threat and chances of the occurrence that is vital to the welfare of humans.

In essence, Jeff in his article praises the journal for playing a significant role in bringing public attention to other health matters and particularly on the connection between smoking and lung cancer. He explained the for many years people have ignored and taken for granted the fact that smoking causes cancer, but Lance helped validate the connections for both the medical community and the public at large. He also applauds the commission for taking the initiative of researching different health matters and also tracking the things that scientists have anticipated for years on the impacts of climate change to human health.
