Over the years, different sectors in countries economies have continually adopted new forms of technologies in their operations. This quest is mainly based or aimed at improving service delivery, promoting customers satisfaction, as well as pushing for an environment of sustainable development. The education sector has in most instances given much priority, not only by the state but also the society at large. It is so because education holds the future for the young generation. Adopting modern technologies in learning institutions will go a long way in improving understanding to the individual learners as well as promoting a credible and education system that is at par with the societal trends. I this essay, I will explore on whether incorporating new technologies in the education system will have implications for the sector. Similarly, I will look into the pros and cons of the same as well as the contemporary issues surrounding modern technologies and the education system altogether. Findings from this research will give us all a much more precise insight on the impacts of advanced technologies in regards to our network of learning.
As mentioned in the introduction, adoption of modern models of technology has become a critically researched issue in the society we live today. Based on research conducted in classrooms across Canada, 90% of school heads, 85% of tutors, 72% of guardians, and 66% of students proved ready to embrace modern forms of technologies in their course of learning. It shows that a majority of individual learners and teachers are willing to adopt new technologies in their classrooms. This change is desires, mainly due to the current societal changes that we are all experiencing. Looking at the future of education in the country, people would want a more accessible and credible education system that would not restrain them from their daily duties and occupations. Similarly, individuals would want a friendly and lively system of education, rather than the usual and boring classroom attendance. I believe that technology is the future of education and that all institutions should take this move.
In a standard school setting, technology facilitates through increased effectiveness and efficiency, the education of the students skills and general knowledge. Application of technology in the education scene will significantly improve the levels of understanding among the leaners, particularly because it brings out a much participative scene. According to Bates (2000), the application of technology in a classroom setting renders both the students and the teachers as both leaners. Therefore, it would be appropriate to assume that any increase in tutors knowledge and efficient utilization can have a significant impact in boosting the levels of learning and understanding among their respective students. In general, modern technologies serve to increase the levels of achievement in learning institutions. Similarly, technological advancements in schools can aid in educational achievements through two basic models, i.e., through the removal of all physical barriers to the process of learning, and the general transition of focus from the retention of knowledge to its utilization (Bates, 2003).
According to Ertmer (2010), the removal of physical barriers gives teachers a suitable environment for improved accessibility concerning professionalism and work ethics. Prior the age of technological advancements in the education scene, there was distant learning, which entailed a significant community learning together under the same roof. At the present moment, there is a wide array of platforms through which individuals can learn even miles away. It has immensely contributed to the reduction of the bulk that has consistently been associated with classroom learning. Additionally, e-learning, also known as internet-based education gives teachers the opportunity to formulate their learning group that is not confined to the local institution site. It, therefore, leads to situations of reciprocal mentorship and that make up a substantial informal community of learning. Consequently, the learners will benefit from the removal of physical barriers to education. Compared to their teachers, students are continually learning new content and aspects concerning different subjects, be it in science, business, history, just to mention a few.
Likewise, the adoption of modern technologies in leaning institutions such as high schools or colleges can help the several students to have an improved visualization in regards to previously hard to understand aspects. For instance, presentations in the form of multimedia that utilizes videos, images, texts, and narrations can be of assistance to the students in regards to concept visualization. Other technological simulations such as games and interactive software or mobile application will consequently improve the levels of understanding among the students. Furthermore, there is much benefit underneath the use of educational technology, particularly concerning the removal of physical barriers like financial constraints and geographical locations. Therefore, in regards to the effect of technology on the education scene, modern technological advancements will continually have an impact both regarding the models of teaching, and also the levels of understanding among the learners. Additionally, promoting the adoption of recent technologies can be used for job performances as well as changing the notion that is placed upon the current system of education. For education to be efficient and sustainable, there must be an appropriate interaction between the tutor, learner, and the content. It can only be achieved through the utilization of modern technology.
It is worth noting the significance of technology in the process of learning, especially in the perspective of preparing students for their future occupations. As earlier mentioned in the introduction, the society is slowly moving towards digitizing almost every aspect through the incorporation of various technological developments. Globally, countries are in the quest to have every sector of the economy to use recent technological advancements. This move is majorly aimed at promoting sustainable development, as well the actualization of the millennium development goals. Incorporating technologies into the education system will help to create an all-around professional that will best fit in the corporate world. Contrary to the traditional form of education, a tech-based style of learning is much vibrant and interactive (Kay, 2006). This advantage helps in not only improving concept visualization but also elevate the standards of education in general.
In conclusion, it is clear that modern technology is a crucial aspect, not only to the education field but the entire societal concept. Due to the demographic and communal changes that are taking place, technology would best suit in meeting the desired needs of the relevant stakeholders. Similarly, technology helps in fulfilling an ever-evolving role not only in the traditional model of learning but also in another field that utilizes technology for educational purposes. Recent trends in technology can serve as a means of removing barriers students and teachers. It will enable the participants to experience educational-wise opportunities that they might have otherwise never been able to face. Therefore, continuous usage of technology can serve to further benefit the educational field and recommendations based on the development of existing trends in education should be pursued for higher gains.
