Evidence
Thousands of infants die every years as a result of serious environmental factors that affect their lives. Studies have shown that children are more vulnerable than the adults to the environmental risks because of a number of factors. This sis because;
Infants are constantly growing. They therefor breathe more air, food, and water
Their central nervous, immune, reproductive, and digestive systems develop rapidly.
They crawl on the ground and therefore are susceptible to dust and chemicals that accumulate on the soils and floor.
They have little control of their environment and may be unaware of the risks that surround them.
As Satterthwaite (2014) suggests, therefore, infants needs to be cared for in a way that enhances their ability to thrive and ensures their survival and protection from injury and physical risks.
