There are some cases where protection doesn't apply; therefore it is essential to understand the limits. It is also crucial to consult a lawyer to avoid copyright infringement. Another way to prevent copyright infringement is always to assume that any work is protected unless one can confirm otherwise. Lastly, to avoid copyright infringement, it is crucial to seek permission from the holder of the copyright.

What is plagiarism? Give three examples under the academic definition.

Plagiarism is that act of copying an idea or text from somebody's work and then claiming that it is your work. Under the academic definition, there is Direct Plagiarism which is a word-for-word copy of somebody's work without quotation marks or attribution. Mosaic Plagiarism occurs when one borrows a phrase from a source and uses no quotation marks or as well tries to find a synonym of what the author used while maintaining the same structure of the original. At times Mosaic Plagiarism is called "patch writing." A third example is an Accidental Plagiarism which happens when individual neglects to cite the sources used or without intentions paraphrases a source with similar words or sentence structure with making an attribution. Plagiarism is often considered an academic offense of dishonesty which is punishable.

Professional applications and imaging software are some of the software applications that are available for digital image manipulation. Digital image manipulation becomes unethical when the Photoshop technique is wrongly used and is used in exaggeration.

How might you put your online reputation at risk? What should you do to protect it?

One puts his or her online reputation at risk when he or she does not regularly go through the social sites from now and again. The reason for going through the social sites is simple. Any person can be angry with you, a jealous competitor or angry client can write any horrible thing online about you. It is true that online reputation can land or deny one their dream job. To have a great impression online, it is crucial there to search yourself and have a setup of Google alert with your name to keep track of the new content of you. All content should also be put in one place and buy your domain name. It is equally important to optimize one's presence in these social sites and keep private things private.

Looking at the "Ten Commandments of Computer Ethics" on page 324, which one do you think is most broken? Why?

Commandment number five is the most broken rule according to me. The commandment states unequivocally that, "Thou shall not use a computer to bear false witness." The commandment means that a computer shouldn't be used to come up with false facts. Photoshopping an innocent man's picture to make him seem guilty is something we see happen on the internet. This is genuinely wrong that's why I feel that commandment number five is commonly broken.
